Highlights from My Singapore Adventure 2016

I haven’t posted in a long while because I’ve been off travelling the globe again with my husband.

The main reason for our trip was to celebrate my husband’s birthday – this was a milestone year for him, but I’ll be kind and won’t give away his age. I love to keep things as realistic as possible, in my stories, especially the settings, so aside from having a great holiday, the added bonus of this trip for me, was that it gave me a fantastic opportunity to do a bit of research for future books.

On this trip, we visited Singapore, Scandinavia, the UK & the USA which included a two week Transatlantic cruise from Copenhagen, Denmark to New York, USA, over a total of five weeks.

By the time we flew home, I was exhausted. So much so, that I had to go on a holiday just to get over the first holiday – seriously, I did. I flew up north, for the warmer weather and to catch up with my family, show them the photos of our trip etc. The plane trip, which took less than three hours total, seemed like a stroll in the park, compared to the international flights.

Singapore was our first stop. It was basically, a one and a half day stopover to break up the twenty hour journey from Sydney, Australia to Copenhagen in Denmark. Part of our holiday included a two week Transatlantic cruise, departing from Copenhagen and finishing in New York.

We fell in love with the city of Singapore, the blend of modern and old architecture, the diverse culture, the friendly people and the lush greenery.

The temperature was a sultry 32 degrees celsius (89.6 F), with light fog cover over the city for most of the day, but it was far from unpleasant and we quickly adapted. Which was surprising, after leaving behind the cold weather (back home in the Blue Mountains) where the temperature barely got above 10C (50F) during the day.

The downside to our stay in Singapore – it was far too short. We only had one full day of sightseeing on the Hop-on Hop-off bus before we had to head back to our hotel to pick up our luggage and head for the airport to catch our 11:50pm flight to Copenhagen. You can imagine how exhausted we were by the time we got to our seats on the plane.
